Technique:Fire of Truth

When you listen deeply, feel intimately, and allow yourself to experience this moment exactly as it is, the emotional and energetic bodies soften. Take a few minutes now to just listen to and become aware of your surroundings. As you let the sounds become known, also become aware of the scent and the feel of the space around you in and outside of the room so that your feeling sense isn't confined to your skin and bones. Give yourself an opportunity to be open to the environment of sound and a sense of the space outside your body.

Notice that the more you relax, these sounds and experiences penetrate you and flow into you without defense. You will feel yourself softening and opening. Invite yourself into this openness. You may find that the sense of a barrier between the outside world and what's happening inside your skin becomes very transparent, or you may feel as if you can't find the boundary between inside and outside. Experiences of outside noise and what is happening in your body become of the same quality. A feeling in your body isn't really different than the sound of a car driving by or a bird in the trees. A feeling in your body is not really any more yours than the feeling of the space in the room where you sit. Notice that if you begin to take ownership of any experience, this starts to divide the world into inner and outer, mine and theirs, an outside sound and me. But essentially it's all just experience, inside or outside, the same. Not mine and not other than mine.

The presence of stillness opens the body and soaks into you like a sponge, if you allow it. A silent understanding happens that is not in words but is the direct experience of what is. Allow yourself the great gift of not looking for some alternate experience. Without thinking about it, without the movement of a single thought, what is it that experiences this? What is it that experiences?

Recognize that there is nothing that experiences this moment, but even that nothing is known and experienced. There is something mysterious that knows, something mysterious that experiences in this moment, but you can't say what it is because, when you say what it is, it's not that. It's closer, more immediate. As soon as you think about it, you see it's not that thought. It's before the thought. No description is necessary, so just rest on the edge, on the precipice, on the direct experience, directly feeling as though you do not exist and yet knowing that you do.

One thought about this mystery sets apart heaven and hell. Thought rips the unity into pieces to be analyzed by the mind. But silence unifies. The experience of this moment is present but ungraspable, known but not definable. This that is awake cannot be caught. You can sacrifice that vain attempt to define and grasp it, and instead just let it go. Maybe you are not you after all. Maybe you are this that is awake inside of this very moment of experience. Find a willingness to be it, rather than know it. As the body opens, sounds still flow through silence. What in you knows itself as silence? This is undefinable. If you lose your way, listen again to the sounds. They will point back to the silence, which will point back to that which knows both silence and sound. Don't get lost in thought or you miss your life. Just simply relax, and relax, and relax. It's the simplest act of faith and trust.

This awakeness that is awake within you knows itself. The mind does not know it, the body does not know it, and emotions do not know it. This awakeness only knows itself as itself. This truth is simple, beyond all comprehension. It is immediate, before all seeking. It is ever present, displaying itself as every single facet of this experience right now.

Technique:The Invisible World (The Five Prerequisites)

We've had a Jesus, a Buddha, a Krishna, many others, many Bhodhisatvas, who have come back to bring peace to this world. Yet it has never happened. How come? Why can there not be peace in this world? The greatest of souls have tried to bring this peace here, yet for some strange reason they have all missed the point. This world is not a world of peace. There have been periods when there has been peace for a while. They didn't last long, and there were wars again, man's inhumanity to man, strife, confusion.

These great souls, for some strange reason, did not realize that there is another world interpenetrating this world, the real world, the invisible world, where there is total bliss, total love, infinite peace. This true world is called consciousness, for want of a better term. It is the state of absolute reality, yet it is the invisible world. The same thing exists in each one of us. In each being, in each animal, in each plant, in each mineral, in each vegetable, there is an inner force. There is consciousness, the reality of all substance.

Only human beings, so-to-speak, are able to transcend their humanity and rise above the so-called relative world, relative universe. Yet there have been very few who actually were able to see this. These very few beings, these very few people, would be considered selfish by most people, for they exclaimed, leave the world alone. Do not concern yourself with the world. The world is an illusion. Dive deep within yourself. Find yourself. If you discover the world within yourself, the invisible world, that is, which is the Self, then you will see what the rest of this world really is.

But there have been those few people who somehow felt something within them, that there is a reality that knows absolutely nothing about this world. They cannot explain it but they feel it. And they begin to do the work required in order to transcend and transmute the entire universe, becoming free and liberated. They gave a name to these people, Jnanis, Sages, Masters. These beings, just by being themselves, become an asset to the world and to those who are ready to follow those steps.

We can never have real happiness as long as we believe the world is real. It's impossible! Due to the fact everything changes. No thing is ever the same and that is very evident. The whole universe is constantly changing. How can we have faith or believe in something like this, that is never the same? We have to make up our minds. Do we want to find reality or do we want to keep running around the world, becoming enthralled in the beginning, and disappointed in the end?

We begin to see it is the mind that keeps us in bondage. It is the mind that creates the body, the world and the universe. We cannot change other people. We've tried. It doesn't work. We cannot change the world condition. We've tried. It doesn't work. It makes no difference whom we elect president or what happens in the world. The conditions might change but there will never be a harmony and peace in this world.

It is only as we transcend and transmute the mind that we see something else. We actually see something else. We live in a different world. This is the reason I appear strange to some people, to most people, to all the people. I may see an accident, somebody dying. I will render assistance but I will be happy, for I do not see death as it appears. For some reason I look through that into the invisible world where there is joy and laughter, where there is peace and harmony.

What do you see? As you look in this world what do you see? You're seeing the result of your mind. Your mind has been conditioned since you were born. Not only that, but you have a mind that has been through many lives, so it appears. You've had many existences and many worlds as a male, as a female, and you're under the laws of karma.

A Jnani has absolutely nothing to do with this world. The world, the universe, becomes totally meaningless to a Sage. It's not a put on. It's not imagining that, "All is well," until some catastrophe hits you, and then you get upset, become violent, feel sorry for yourself, become depressed. You have to see where your at, where you're coming from, what you're really made of. You can never know the truth, that there is no world, there is no universe, there is no God, as long as you believe the body suffers, mentally or physically. Have you suffered mentally or physically today?

If you really want to become a part of those few people in this world that have transcended the world, you have to do what they did.

The first prerequisite: Shut up. Be quiet. Stop debating. Stop arguing. Stop trying to prove a point. Even if someone knows something that you don't, whether they share it with you or not, makes no difference, for you have to come up with your own truth. There's really no one in this universe that can hand you realization on a silver platter.

Number two: You have to let go. You have to let go so completely that it becomes scary. You have to totally let go mentally. You have to stop depending on person, place or thing for your self-worth. You have to start depending on the infinite invisible, on what you cannot see, taste, touch, or smell or feel.

Number three: You must look at the world but never react to anything. You must watch your feelings and your emotions, observe them, and as they come into contact with you, you must become the witness, realizing that you are not those emotions. You are not your bad temper. You are not the depression. You are nothing that goes on in this world.

Number four: You must develop a tremendous humility, a stupendous humility. This is more important than anything else. If someone tells you something that you don't like to hear you do not become upset. You do not hold it in. You let it go through you and it dissipates, for it has no energy except the energy you give it. You are responsible to yourself. If you fool yourself you're just going to get disgusted in the end and give up all spiritual life, for you'll say you've gotten nowhere, nothing has happened, it doesn't work. It doesn't exist.

I suppose this is the reason I am with you. To tell you, "Yes, there is an invisible realm of perfection beyond this world, interpenetrating this world, that makes this world look like kindergarten." Yet you must be able to see it yourself.

Number five: You have to want it so much that you don't want it. You have to have such a strong desire to be free that all desire stops. When all desire stops there is a quietness, a stillness, that takes place within you. It is only when this stillness, this quietness, comes when you're able to see clearly, not with your physical eyes, but with your spiritual eye, not with your little I, not with the I-thought, but with the I-am. And you will see in all directions. You will see up, you will see down, you will see sideways, you will see backwards. The only thing you will see is total perfection which is another name for pure awareness. You have to take this thing seriously and you're not to be serious about this thing at all. You have to reject everything yet you also have to accept everything. You have to surrender and you have to realize that you are the Self.

There is something inside of you that knows how to do all this. You can help by becoming quiet, by becoming still, by not making a lot of noise, not making a big commotion. Let the world do what it will, yet you become silent and peaceful, compassionate, have humility. Just watch, look, observe, quiet the mind. Be still and know that I am God.
.... Those who have been trying to tell us to go within, and the change must come from within, are the true teachers. But those who try to improve the world and try to improve the world to make this a better world, have not tasted ultimate reality.

Transcending is when you go from step to step. You go higher and higher. But transmuting is when you do it all at once. The brain chemical changes to begin with. The brain chemical changes to begin with. The entire programming of the brain gives up to the mind, lets go. All the programming disappears. The eons of programming, the past, is dead. It becomes totally annihilated.

Many beings have awakened simply by looking at the situation, observing it, intelligently focusing on it, and awakening can occur. You see through the maya.

Technique:Four Principles of Self-Realization

Four Principles of Self-Realization
by Robert Adams

First Principle: You have a feeling, a complete understanding that everything you see, everything in the universe, in the world, emanates from your mind. In other words, you feel this. You do not have to think about it, or try to bring it on. It comes by itself. It becomes a part of you. The realization that everything you see, the universe, people, worms, insects, the mineral kingdom, the vegetable kingdom, your body, your mind, everything that appears, is a manifestation of your mind.

Second Principle: You have a strong feeling, a deep realization, that you are unborn. You are not born, you do not experience a life, and you do not disappear, you do not die ... You exist as I Am. You have always existed and you will always exist. You exist as pure intelligence, as absolute reality. That is your true nature. You exist as sat-chit-ananda. You exist as bliss consciousness ... But you do not exist as the body. You do not exist as person, place or thing.

Third Principle: You are aware and you have a deep understanding of the egolessness of all things; that everything has no ego. I'm not only speaking of sentient beings. I'm speaking of the mineral kingdom, the vegetable kingdom, the animal kingdom, the human kingdom. Nothing has an ego. There is no ego ... It means that everything is sacred. Everything is God. Only when the ego comes, does God disappear ... When there is no ego, you have reverence for everybody and everything ... There is only divine consciousness, and everything becomes divine consciousness.

Fourth Principle: You have a deep understanding, a deep feeling, of what self-realization of noble wisdom really is ... You can never know by trying to find out what it is, because it’s absolute reality. You can only know by finding out what it is not. So you say, it is not my body, it is not my mind, it is not my organs, it is not my thoughts, it is not my world, it is not my universe, it is not the animals, or the trees, or the moon, or the sun, or the stars, it is not any of those things. When you've gone through everything and there's nothing left, that's what it is. Nothing. Emptiness. Nirvana. Ultimate Oneness.

Technique:Zen Meditation

Be silent...

Close your eyes... and feel your bodies to be completely frozen.

This is the right moment to enter in.

With a deep urgency, gather all your energies and consciousness, and rush towards your inner center of being which is just two inches below the navel, inside you.

Faster and faster...

Deeper and deeper...

As you are coming closer to the center, a great silence descends over you, a peace that passeth understanding.

And inside, at the center, you encounter your very self, your very buddha, for the first time. It is only a presence, a light, a flame. This flame is rooted in the eternal fire of existence.

You have been here always, and you will be here always. Only forms change, but the existential truth remains without any change. It is your ultimate being. In this ultimateness you are no more there, but the whole is. The dewdrop has disappeared in the ocean, or the ocean has disappeared in the dewdrop. This is one of the greatest moments to become a witness.

Witness that you are not the body...

Witness that you are not the mind...

Witness that you are only a pure witnessing consciousness....

The deeper this consciousness goes, the closer you are coming to your ultimate nature, the buddha.

Relax into witnessing.

(Drumbeat)

Just a silent witnessing, and all boundaries disappear. And suddenly, Gautama the Buddha Auditorium becomes an ocean of consciousness. Ten thousand buddhas are no longer there, only a single pure fire of awareness. This is your very nature.

Zen is not a religion, it is a manifesto of your very nature.

It is a freedom from all social structures.

It is a freedom even from yourself.

It is pure freedom.

In this freedom, all that is creative arises.

All that is beautiful blossoms... all that is significant.

A grace that you have never been aware of surrounds you.

An aura of light follows you.

Collect all these experiences before Nivedano calls you back.

You are not to become anyone, you have just to dissolve into the totality of existence. In this annihilation, you reach to the highest peak of consciousness. In that peak there is light and there is joy, and there is song and there is dance – but there is no ”I” at all.

Persuade the buddha, the flame, to come behind you. It has been hiding inside your being since eternity. You have never explored the inner space, otherwise there is no need of any religion, and no need of any temple.

This very body becomes the temple.

And this very consciousness becomes the buddha.

These are the three small steps....

First, request the buddha, the internal and the eternal flame to follow you, to become part of your ordinary day-to-day life.

In the second step, you start becoming a shadow to the buddha. He takes you over; you start disappearing.

In the third step, even your shadow is no longer there, only a pure presence of the buddha.

This is not an achievement, you are already it – you have forgotten the language.

The Zen Manifesto is simply to remind you.

The last words of Gautam Buddha were: sammasati – ”remember.”

In a single word, everything significant is contained: sammasati.

(Drumbeat)

Come back, but come back as buddhas – peaceful, silent, relaxed.

Just for a few seconds sit down with closed eyes to remember, to make a note of where you have been, to what depth you have been able to reach; what is the taste of silence, peace, what is the taste of disappearing into the ultimate...

The last words of Gautam Buddha contain the Zen Manifesto: sammasati. Remember what is your inner space. Just remember.

There is nothing to achieve, and there is nothing to become. You are already that which you have been seeking in all your lives in different ways, on different paths. But you have never looked inwards.

Look in. And whenever you have time, you know the path. Just go again and again to the inner space so that your fear of disappearing is dropped, you start enjoying being nobody, and you start remembering the forgotten language.

Sammasati...

Breathing - Relaxation Technique

You take the breath in, and then the body throws the breath out. Reverse it: you will be more normal. Emphasize the outgoing breath.

Throw the breath out as much as you can, and let the body take in.

When you take in and you have not released, your lungs become filled with carbon dioxide. Then you go on taking in, and you never release the entire lungs. You go on forcing the carbon dioxide inwards. Then your breathing becomes shallow, and the entire lungs are filled with carbon dioxide.

First throw it out, and forget about taking in. The body will take care of that itself. The body has its own wisdom, and it is more wise than you. Throw the breath out and forget taking in. Don’t be afraid, you are not going to die. The body will take in, and it will take in as much as is needed. As much as you have thrown out it will take in, and the balance will be there.

Just for fifteen minutes in the dayexhale deeply. Sit in a chair or on the ground, exhale deeply, and while exhaling close the eyes. When the air goes out, you go in. And then allow the body to inhale, and when the air goes in, open the eyes and you go out. It is just the opposite: when the air goes out, you go in; when the air goes in, you go out.

Technique:Inner Senses Exercise - Seth

Your real environment is innocent of space and time as you know them. In your real environment you have no need for words, for communication is instantaneous. In your real environment you form the physical world that you know.

The inner senses will allow you to perceive the reality that is independent of physical form. I will ask you all to momentarily forsake your roles therefore, and to try this simple exercise.

Now, pretend that you are on a lighted stage, the stage being the room in which you now sit. Close your eyes and pretend that the lights have gone out, the setting has disappeared and you are alone.
Everything is dark. Be quiet. Imagine as vividly as you can the existence of inner senses. For now pretend that they correspond to your physical ones. Clear from your mind all thoughts and worries. Be receptive. Very gently listen, not to physical sounds but to sounds that come through the inner senses.

Images may begin to appear. Accept them as sights quite as valid as those you see physically. Pretend that there is an inner world, and that it will be revealed to you as you learn to perceive it with these inner senses.

Pretend that you have been blind to this world all your life, and are now slowly gaining sight within it. Do not judge the whole inner world by the disjointed images that you may at first perceive, or by the sounds that you may at first hear, for you will still be using your inner senses quite imperfectly.

Do this simple exercise for a few moments before sleep or in the resting state. It may also be done even in the midst of an ordinary task that does not take all of your attention.

You will simply be learning to focus in a new dimension of awareness, taking quick snapshots, as it were, in a strange environment. Remember that you will only be perceiving snatches. Simply accept them, but do not attempt to make any overall judgments or interpretations at this stage.

Ten minutes a day to begin with is quite sufficient.

Technique:Yoga Nidra

Just as a car engine needs to be turned off and allowed to cool down after a long drive, similarly, after doing yoga postures, we need to cool our body with yoga nidra. It helps conserve and consolidate the energy from the yoga poses (active) practices. Yoga nidra relaxes the entire system, preparing it for pranayama and meditation. It is therefore important to keep aside sufficient time for yoga nidra after yoga postures.

Let’s Get Ready For Yoga Nidra
In yoga nidra, we consciously take our attention to different parts of the body, which activates the nerves in those areas and helps to integrate the impact of the asanas (yoga postures) into our system.

Here is a step-by-step guide to do yoga nidra.

Tip: It is a good idea to cover yourself with a blanket to keep yourself warm. The body becomes warm while doing postures and a sudden drop in temperature is not suitable.

  1. Lie down straight on your back in Corpse Pose (Shavasana). Close your eyes and relax. Take a few deep breaths in and out. Remember to take slow and relaxed breaths, and not ujjayi breaths. (Tip: If you feel any discomfort or pain in lower back, adjust your posture or use a pillow to elevate the legs a little, for more comfort.)
  2. Start by gently taking your attention to your right foot. Keep your attention there for a few seconds, while relaxing your foot. Then gently move your attention up to the right knee, right thigh and hip (again for a couple of seconds). Become aware of your whole right leg. Repeat this process for the left leg.
  3. Similarly, take your attention to all parts of the body: genital area, stomach, navel region, chest, right shoulder and right arm, followed by the left shoulder and left arm, throat, face and the top of the head.
  4. Take a deep breath in, observe the sensations in your body, and relax in this still state for a few minutes.
  5. Now, slowly becoming aware of your body and surroundings, turn to your right side and keep lying down for a few more minutes.
  6. Taking your own time, you may then slowly sit up, and whenever you feel comfortable, slowly and gradually open your eyes.

How Yoga Nidra Benefits You

  • Cools down the body after yoga postures, restoring normal temperature
  • Activates the nervous system to absorb the effects of yoga poses
  • Flushes out body toxins

Technique:Smile Breath Meditation

With eyes closed Sit comfortably with hands clasped and legs crossed
Bring smile onto your face and spread it whole body as if your total body is smiling. Feel all cells, organs, body parts are smiling.
Feel each breath of you is bringing more joy of smiles into you and spreading.
If you have any discomfort or pain already existing in your body feel that part or area smiling and any mental-relation-financial issues are also filled with smile.
Next feel this energy-bliss-peace is radiating to the place where you live and gradually to whole globe and universe.
Benefits-Pure smile instead of plastic smile always exists on your face.
Since smile is contagious you will become a source of joy-peace-oneness.
You can witness any pain in and out with smile without any shaking.

Dance Meditation

Dance as meditation – Disappear into the dance

Forget the dancer, the center of the ego; become the dance. That is the meditation. Dance so deeply that you forget completely “you” are dancing and begin to feel that you are the dance. The division must disappear; then it becomes a meditation. If the division is there, then it is an exercise: good, healthy, but it cannot be said to be spiritual. It is just a simple dance. Dance is good in itself – as far as it goes, it is good. After it, you will feel fresh, young. But it is not meditation yet. The dancer must go, until only the dance remains.

So what to do? Be totally in the dance, because division can exist only if you are not total in it. If you are standing aside and looking at your own dance, the division will remain: you are the dancer and you are dancing. Then dancing is just an act, something you are doing; it is not your being. So get involved totally, be merged in it. Don’t stand aside, don’t be an observer.
Particpate!

THE INSTRUCTIONS
Nataraj is dance as a total meditation. There are three stages, lasting a total of 65 minutes.
“Let the dance flow in its own way; don’t force it. Rather, follow it; allow it to happen. It is not a doing but a happening. Remain in the mood of festivity. You are not doing something very serious; you are just playing, playing with your life energy, playing with your bioenergy, allowing it to move in its own way. Just like the wind blows and the river flows – you are flowing and blowing. Feel it. And be playful. Remember this word “playful” always – with me, it is very basic. In this country we call creation God’s leela – God’s play. God has not created the world; it is his play”
Osho

1st stage 40 minutes
With eyes closed dance as if posessed. Let your unconscious take over completely. Do not control your movements or be a witness to what is happening. Just be totally in the dance.

2nd stage: 20 minutes
Keeping your eyes closed, lie down immediately. Be silent and still.

3rd stage: 5 minutes
Dance in celebration and enjoy.

No-Mind Meditation

No-Mind means intelligence. And when I am asking you for gibberish, I am simply asking you to throw out the mind and all its activity so you remain behind – pure, clean, transparent, perceptive.

The first part is gibberish. The word ‘gibberish’ comes from a Sufi mystic, Jabbar. Jabbar never spoke any language, he just uttered nonsense. Still he had thousands of disciples because what he was saying was, “Your mind is nothing but gibberish. Put it aside and you will have a taste of your own being.” Use gibberish and go consciously crazy. Go crazy with absolute awareness so that you become the center of the cyclone. Simply allow whatever comes, without bothering whether it is meaningful or reasonable. Just throw out all mind garbage and create the space in which the Buddha appears.

In the second part, the cyclone is gone and has taken you also away. The Buddha has taken its place in absolute silence and immobility. You are just witnessing the body, the mind and anything that is happening.

In the third part I will say, “Let go!” Then you relax your body and let it fall without any effort, without your mind controlling. Just fall like a bag of rice.

Each segment will begin with the sound of a drum.

Instruction
Try the meditation for seven days at first, as that will be a long enough period to experience its effects. Allow for approximately 40 minutes of gibberish, followed by 40 minutes of witnessing and Let Go, but you can continue both stages for a further 20 minutes if you wish.

First stage: Gibberish or Conscious Craziness
Standing or sitting, close your eyes and begin to say nonsense sounds-gibberish. Make any sounds you like, but do not speak in a language,  or use words that yoy know. Allow yourself to express whatever needs to be expressed within you. Throw everything out, go totally mad. Go consciously crazy. The mind thinks in terms of words. Gibberish helps to break up this pattern of continuous verbalization. Without suppressing your thoughts, you can throw them out in this gibberish.

Everything is allowed: sing, cry, shout, scream, mumble, talk, Let your body do whatever it wants: jump, lie down, pace, sit, kick, and so on. Do not allow there to be any gaps. If cannot find sounds to gibber with, just say la la la la , but don’t remain silent.

If you do this meditation with other people, do not relate or interfere with them in any way. Just stay with is happening to you, and don’t bother about what others are doing. You can wear a blindfold if it helps.

Second stage: Witnessing
After the gibberish, sit absolutely still and silent and relaxed, gathering your energy inwards, letting your thoughts drift further and further away from you, allowing yourself to fall into the deep silence and peacefulness that is at your center. You may sit on the floor or use a chair. Your head and back should be straight, your body relaxed, your eyes closed and your breathing natural.

Be aware; be totally in the present moment. Become like a watcher on the hills, witnessing whatever passes by. Your thoughts will try to race to the future or back to the past. Just watch them from them from a distance – don’t judge them. Just stay in the present, watching. It is the meditation, what you are watching is not important. Remember not to become identified with or lost in whatever comes by: thoughts, feelings, body sensations, judgments.

Third stage: Let-Go
Gibberish is to get rid of the active mind, silence is to get rid of the inactive mind, and Let-Go is to enter into the transcendental.

After the witnessing, allow your body to full back to the ground without any effort or control. Lying back, continue witnessing, being aware that you are not the body nor the mind, that you are something separate from both.

As you travel deeper and deeper inside, you will eventually come to your center.

When you feel ready, sit up again and for a few minutes remember the space you have been in – the silence and the peace.

Hollow Body Meditation

Begin by sitting or lying with the spine in alignment; be comfortable, ensure you are warm enough and won’t be disturbed for a few minutes.

Bring your attention to your breath and imagine your are breathing into your head – your head is a spacious place devoid of any obstruction, a light and airy space. It can be helpful to see the breath as a luminous crystal mist coming in and completely filling the whole space in your head.

Move on now to your neck and throat, breathe in and see this area of your body filled with the same luminous mist. The space in your neck and throat free from any solidity or denseness. A light and airy space that allows sensations and vibrations to flow freely.

Allow this feeling of spaciousness to flow down to the chest, shoulders and out to the arms and hands. The fingers feeling hollow – the luminous mists of breath flowing in and out carrying sensations easily through your arms, shoulders, neck and head.

Breathing in and moving the awareness down through the torso, into the legs, feet and toes. As you exhale feel the streams of sensation flowing through the body – no knots or tension to get in the way – but the body light and airy, sensation and breath flowing freely.

Remain with these sensations, allow any thoughts, feelings or perceptions to arise and dissolve like bubbles in a stream. Feel the stream energise all parts of the body… if you find a part that seems closed, dense or the flow gets stuck, focus on this area and will it to relax, undo and melt.

Gradually, with practice you will be able to feel your hollow, relaxed body with just a few breaths – from the top of your head to the tip of your toes, completely open and free, unobstructed and radiant with an inner sense of wholeness and calmness

Technique:Chanting Aum at the Chakras

"Concentrate at the point between the eyebrows, and go up the spine mentally chanting 'Aum' at each of the centers: coccyx, sacral, lumbar, dorsal, cervical, medulla, Christ center. Now mentally go down the spine chanting 'Aum' at each of these centers. Go deeper and deeper in concentration, up and down the spine, mentally feeling the centers and mentally chanting 'Aum'. As you do this, you see that your consciousness is no longer locked in the external awareness of the body, but becomes centered in higher spiritual perceptions in the spine. Relax in God. Don't be tied to the consciousness of the body. Let your mind go deeper and deeper in the thought of God."
--Paramahansa Yogananda (Winter 2002, SRF magazine)

*Chakras (source: www.yssofindia.org) :In Yoga, the seven occult centres of life and consciousness in the spine and brain, which enliven the physical and astral bodies of man. These centres are referred to as chakras (“wheels”) because the concentrated energy in each one is like a hub from which radiate rays of life-giving light and energy.

The seven centres are divinely planned exits or “trapdoors” through which the soul has descended into the body and through which it must reascend by a process of meditation. By seven successive steps, the soul escapes into Cosmic Consciousness. In its conscious upward passage through the seven opened or “awakened” cerebrospinal centres, the soul travels the highway to the Infinite, the true path by which the soul must retrace its course to reunite with God. All seven centres, however, are often referred to as lotuses, whose petals open, or turn upward, in spiritual awakening as the life and consciousness travel up the spine.

Technique:From Head to Heart to Hara

Man can function from three centers: one is the head, another is the heart and the third one is the navel.

If you function from the head you will go on spinning more and more thoughts. They are very insubstantial, dream-stuff - they promise much, they deliver nothing. The mind is a great cheat but it has tremendous capacities to delude, because it can project. It can give you great utopias, great desires, and it always goes on saving 'Tomorrow it is going to happen' ... and it never happens. Nothing ever happens in the head; the head is not the place for anything to happen.

The second center is the heart. It is the center for feeling, one feels through the heart. You are closer home - not home yet, but closer. When you feel, you are more substantial, you have more solidity; when you feel, there is a possibility that something may happen. There is no possibility with the head; there is a small possibility with the heart.

But the real thing is not even the heart. The real thing is deeper than the heart - which is the navel. It is the center of being.

Thinking, feeling, being - these are the three centers. But certainly feeling is closer to being than thinking, and feeling functions as a method. If you want to come down from the head you will have to pass through the heart - that is the crossroads from where the road separate. You cannot go to being directly; there is no way. You will have to pass through the heart. So the heart has to be used as a method.

Feel more and then you will think less. Don't fight with thinking, because fighting with thinking is again creating other thoughts of fighting. Then the mind is never defeated. If you win, it is the mind that has won; if you are defeated, you are defeated. Either way you are defeated - so never fight with thoughts, it is futile.

Rather than fighting with the thoughts, move your energy into feeling. Sing rather than think, love rather than philosophize, read poetry rather than prose. Dance, look at nature, and whatsoever you do, do it through the heart.

For example, if you touch somebody, touch through the heart, touch feelingly, and let your being vibrated. When you look at somebody, don't just look with stone-dead eyes. Pour out your energy through the eyes, and immediately you will see that something is happening in the heart. It is only a question of trying.

The heart is the neglected center: once you start paying attention to it, it starts functioning. When it starts functioning, the energy that was moving in the mind automatically starts moving through the heart. And the heart is closer to the energy center - the energy center is in the navel - so to pump it to the head is hard work, in fact. That's why all the education systems exist: they teach you how to pump the energy from the center to the head and how to by-pass the heart. So no school, no college, no university, teaches how to feel. They destroy feeling, because they know that if you feel you cannot think. If you feel too much then the energy will be stopped at the heart center, it will never go to the head. It can only go to the head when the heart center is completely denied. It has to go somewhere; it has to find an outlet. If the heart is not the outlet, it will go to the head.

So love is denied, feeling is denied, condemned it is almost a sin to feel. One has to be logical and rational, not emotional. If you are emotional, people will say you are childish. In a way they are literally true, because only a child feels. A grown-up person - educated, cultivated and conditioned - stops feeling. He becomes almost dry, dead wood; no juice flows any more. Hence there is so much misery. Misery is because of the head.

The head cannot celebrate, there is no celebration possible through the head. It can think about celebration - it can think about and about and about, but it cannot celebrate. Celebration happens through the heart.

First, you love - half the journey is complete. And as it is easy to move from the head to the heart, it is even easier to move from the heart to the navel.

In the navel you are simply a being, a pure being - no feeling, no thinking. You are not moving at all. That is the center of the cyclone. Everything else is moving: the head is moving, the heart is moving, and the body is moving. Everything is moving; everything is in a contrast flux. Only the center of your existence, the navel center, is unmoving; it is the hub of the wheel.

Actualizing Joy - Accessing Positive Emotions

When: The whole day.

"Whenever you feel something is beautiful, blissful be aware of it. Usually we are so engaged with the negative we don't take much notice of the positive. So try to find the blissful and be filled with it. In that moment forget everything else and allow it to happen to your whole being.

"Do it for 24 hours as an experiment to give the feel. Then once you have the feel, once you feel that the positive is going to lead you to a new world because you become new, you will never want to leave it."

Even Cowgirls Get Them! - Working with Negative Emotions

"Make it an absolute law that whenever something is wrong, immediately close your eyes and look for the real culprit. And you will be able to see because it is a truth. It is a reality. It is true that you accumulate anger; that's why you become angry. It is true that you accumulate hate; that's why you feel hatred. The other is not a real cause."

When: Whenever you feel miserable.

Step 1:
"Close you eyes and go inside - because that is the right moment to catch the culprit red-handed. Otherwise you will not be able to catch it. When the anger has disappeared, you will close the eyes. You will not find anything there. In a red-hot situation, don't miss the point."

Step 2:
"Once realized that 'This is my own negativity which creates the problem: it falls by itself. And then there is a beauty, when the negative mind falls by itself. If you try to drop it, it will cling - because the very effort to drop it shows that your surrounding is not mature.

"All renunciation is immaturity; you are not ripe for it. That's why effort is needed to drop it. I am carrying rubbish; do I need any effort to drop it, except the understanding that this is rubbish? If I need any effort to drop it, that means I am supplementing my understanding with effort. Understanding itself is not enough - that's why effort is needed. All those who have known, they say effort is needed because your understanding is not there. It may be an intellectual thing, but really you have not felt the situation, otherwise you simply drop it. A snake passes along the path; you simply jump. There is no effort in the jump. You don't decide to jump; you don't make a logical syllogism within you that 'There is a snake, and wherever there is a snake there is a danger; hence, I must jump.' You don't make a logical step-by- step syllogism."

Technique:Are You There?

When: Whenever you feel sleepy.

Step 1: Ask Yourself
Ask yourself 'Are you here?' Suddenly your thinking will stop."

Step 2: And Respond
Then reply, 'Yes!' That will bring you into focus. When thinking stops you are alert, in the moment."

Step 3: Entering Sleep Too
Going to sleep, suddenly call, 'Are you here?' And answer.

In the darkness you become a flame of awareness.

It is also a remembrance of your own being, also a respectfulness, a gratitude that one day more is given to you, that again the sun will rise, that again, for one day at least, you will be able to see the roses blossom.

A man of no-mind, a man of meditation, finds himself so grateful for each moment that life gives to him. There is no reason - you don't deserve it, nobody deserves it. It is a sheer gift of life. You cannot ask to extend your life even by a single moment. You cannot say, 'I am worthy, so let me have a few more years; I deserve it.' Nobody deserves it, but life goes on pouring in you out of its abundance.

Technique:Belly Breathing

When: Each night, for 15 nights, make the stomach as tense as possible for two or three minutes, bringing the tension to such a climax that you feel like bursting, and then relax it.

Watch a small child breathing: that's the right and natural way of breathing. The stomach goes up and down and the chest remains completely unaffected by the passage of air. The child is in T'ai chi. His whole chi, his whole energy, is concentrated near his navel.

By and by we lose contact with the navel. We become more and more hung up in the head and the breathing becomes shallow. So whenever you remember during the day, take the breath in as deeply as possible, but let the belly be used.

Everybody breathes rightly in sleep because the interfering mind is not there. The belly goes up and down and it automatically becomes deep; you need not force it to become deep. Simply remain natural and it becomes deep. Depth is a consequence of its being natural, and if you insist for depth, it will never come, and your breathing will remain unnatural.
