The Master is the Presence, not a relationship. Relationships can be broken, mended, and broken again. There is craving and aversion in every relationship. This is the wheel of sansara, the misery of the world. All relationships go topsy-turvy, whereas the Presence is vast, infinite, stable and centred.
- His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
If someone who is responsible for the whole society, the whole kingdom can say that he is not doing anything in spite of his responsible job; then that 'not doing something' is great. That is enlightenment.
- His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
Meditation is seeing God in yourself.
Love is seeing God in the person next to you.
Knowledge is seeing God everywhere
Expression of Love is service.
Expression of Joy is your smile
Expression of Peace is meditation
Expressing God is conscious action
- An Intimate Note to the Sincere Seeker, His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
When you go beyond gratefulness, then union happens. Neither "I" nor "you" remains. You are part of the Master. You are one Being with a thousand heads and a thousand arms but with one heart.
- An Intimate Note to the Sincere Seeker, His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
The love of the ignorant can be harmful, yet even the anger of the Enlightened is not harmful. It can only be good!
- An Intimate Note to the Sincere Seeker, His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
When you realize everyone is part of your Self, you enjoy the whole world without a sense of craving.
- An Intimate Note to the Sincere Seeker, His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
If you want to complain, complain to God or your Guru because both have their ears covered.
- An Intimate Note to the Sincere Seeker, His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
Sensitivity is intuition, Sensitivity is compassion, Sensitivity is love, Sensitivity is the real strength, calmness, endurance, silence, non-reactiveness, confidence, faith - and a smile.
- An Intimate Note to the Sincere Seeker, His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
Don't be stuck with words. Meanings of words changes in course of time. Your worries are words. Your ideas are words. Wisdom is beyond words. It is your very Being, the essence of all words. See and relate beyond words. Then there is no lie in your life.
If you manipulate words, it is a lie;
If you play on words, it is a joke;
If you rely on words, it is ignorance;
If you transcend words, it is wisdom.
- An Intimate Note to the Sincere Seeker, His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
The solar plexus has a profound impact on the central nervous system, optic nerves, stomach, and what we usually call our "gut-feeling". It is the second brain in your body. So It is good to do Surya Namaskar in the early morning where first rays of sun fall on the solar plexus.
When your solar plexus contracts, one feels horrible, sad, depressed, all the negative feelings come.
When your solar plexus expands, the intuitive mind awakens, the mind becomes clear and focused.
Krishna was called Padmanabha, meaning whose navel is the size of a lotus flower. If you become Padmanabha, you become absolutely creative. Brahma, the Creator, is said to be born out of a blossomed solar plexus.
- An Intimate Note to the Sincere Seeker, His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
The mindless, transcendental consciousness is called Mahakaala, the Shiva, the fourth state of consciousness. It’s called Divine, Mahakaala, Grand Time, means great time, and the no-mind. The no-mind is great time.
- His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
The way to overcome personal misery is to share universal misery!
The way to expand personal joy is to share universal joy.

When Shankara was asked to define Truth, he said all that exists is Truth, all events are falsehood, because they don't exist, they move.
That which is changeless is truth; that which changes is an illusion. Illusion does not mean nonexistence, but it is ever-changing.
- Ashtavakra Gita, His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
The moments you are in the company of knowledge, of the Master, those are the most precious moments in your life.
- Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
A Guru is there to show you what you are. You are not different from Me. Whatever I am, that is what you are. This is your highest possibility.
- Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
Infinity is available, but not tangible; the Guru is both infinite and tangible. The Divine is impersonal; Guru is both personal and Divine. The impersonal personified for your benefit.
- Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
Yoga itself means skill. Yoga is the skill to live life, skill to manage your mind, skill to deal with your emotions, skill to be with people, skill to be in love and not let love turn into hatred.
- Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
Instead of just being a spectator, be a participant in this phenomenon called the universe. You should be a participant, or agent of change in society, rather than just watching television every day and looking at what is happening. Got it?
You can watch television, but not for two-three hours. Instead, dedicate one hour to doing some creative work.
- Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
The sign of success is a smile on your face. If you smile, no matter what happens, that is a sign of success.
- Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
Like there is fatherhood, motherhood, there is Guruhood also. You have to play Guruhood at least to somebody. You do play, you keep giving advices and guiding people consciously or unconsciously, and give them love and care. But do it 100 percent without expecting anything in return. That is living the Guruhood, living the Self.
- Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
I am responsible for my happiness. I will not let anybody bring down my happiness. You go with this determination and see what happens.
